"Clippings"

The girls were just about to head out of the door for school today and I had a few minutes to spare, so I actually turned on my brain today and remembered that I needed to clip some fingernails. I am always forgetting this and get quite embarrassed when they come home from wherever with long dirty fingernails. So I grabbed Grace first, and she decided that she was able to do this on her own (great! one more thing I don't have to do for one of my kids!). While she is clipping away, I take a look at Anna's nails and they are nice and neat and clean and short.
???
I did not do this.
I am 100% positive she did not clip her own nails.
I am 110% sure her dad did not do this.
So I asked her if she bit her fingernails. She just smiled and said: YES! Of course I start lecturing that it is not a good idea to bite your fingernails, but she stops me dead in my tracks when she says: "I bite my toenails too!"
WHAT?????
How in the heck do you bite off your toenails? She says she doesn't like it when I clip them because it tickles. I guess it's quite the talent that she can even get her toenails up to her mouth to even try and bite them off.
I don't know if I am jealous or not??
Nope, not a talent I aspire too, that is for sure!

Funny video

I caught Sarah falling asleep at the supper table the other night and I quickly ran and grabbed the camera. It was so funny to watch her try to finish her supper! I couldn't get it uploaded here to my blog, but it worked on facebook, so here is the link:

Spring cleaning, gardens, and cuteness!

I have been doing a bunch of spring cleaning lately, mostly focusing on the garage. We still had most of Floyd's stuff in there and he passed away 2 years ago! So, when the CPAA phoned a couple of weeks ago and asked if we had anything to donate - I told them to bring a truck - a BIG truck. It felt so good to finally get most of the garage cleaned out! There is still a decent amount of work to do, but getting rid of all this made a huge dent in there. I actually tried to get them to take the bikes, but they wouldn't take them. I already have another pile ready to be donated/thrown out for Matt to take care of next weekend on his days off. I will have a clean garage yet!!

Last week we planted our garden for FHE. The kids had a blast!

Nice big fat juicy worms.....

The four oldest have their own plots that they planted whatever they wanted.
Check out this cute kid all ready for church!!

Bath time!

Gid is 8 months old and is learning to drink from a sippy cup. He sure is an awesome kid!!

The last two weeks I have gone with my sil to spin class at the MWRC. Last week I could barely sit down for about 4 days! I don't own a bike myself and I think it has been about 7 years since I have actually been on a bike at all. So after riding one of these for an hour - I was definitely feeling it!

I persevered and went again tonight and I don't feel quite as bad as last week. The instructor was a bit more intense this week too. I came away from the class feeling like I actually accomplished something. I am so glad that I have a great friend to go with too. That makes all the difference in the world!

Mother's Day

I was given the opportunity to give a talk in church today about the influence of mothers. I chose to speak about my own mother and grandmother. I wouldn't be who I am without them. I thank and honor them so much for being the examples and inspiration I needed to become the woman I am today.

Me, my mom, and my grandma with Sarah in October 2008

I thought I would add a little excerpt from my talk. These were my favorite quotes.

Sister Sheri Dew stated that : When we understand the magnitude of motherhood, it becomes clear why prophets have been so protective of woman’s most sacred role. While we tend to equate motherhood solely with maternity, in the Lord’s language, the word mother has layers of meaning. Of all the words they could have chosen to define her role and her essence, both God the Father and Adam called Eve “the mother of all living” - and they did so before she ever bore a child. Like Eve, our motherhood began before we were born. Just as worthy men were foreordained to hold the priesthood in mortality, righteous women were endowed premortally with the privilege of motherhood. Motherhood is more than bearing children, though it is certainly that. It is the essence of who we are as women. It defines our very identity, our divine stature and nature, and the unique traits our Father gave us.

President Gordon B. Hinckley stated that “God planted within women something divine.” That something is the gift and the gifts of motherhood. Elder Matthew Cowley taught that “men have to have something given to them [in mortality] to make them saviors of men, but not mothers, not women. [They] are born with an inherent right, an inherent authority, to be the saviors of human souls … and the regenerating force in the lives of God’s children.”

Happy Mother's Day!!

Catching up

I had a whole bunch of pictures on my camera that need to be shared, so this will be mostly just pictures - but you will be able to see what we have been up to for the last month or so.
Last month Gideon started sitting up - he is happy about that!!
Mom and Dad came up to help us put up a wall. We separated our bedroom into two rooms,so we now have a separate office/store room. Love it!!
So much extra storage space - we don't even have half of them up in this picture!

The girls got new dresses for Easter. I was taking this picture whether Grace wanted me to or not.
Sheri made these awesome cupcakes for our Easter dinner dessert - they were YUMMY!!

Hunting for Easter eggs in the backyard

Checking out the loot!

We went to Calgary for a fun day of swimming and visiting family on May 1st. The kids loved the waterpark! It was a really fun day!!

We headed to Pizza Hut for supper after swimming - I think our waitress was a little overwhelmed with the party of 24! We left a big mess, but it sure was fun!!!
