It's got to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.....

We had a busy weekend at our house!  My mom came in to help with some of the demolition and reconstruction of our kitchen.  We made a lot of progress, but I don't think I really realized how big of a job this really is.  Especially with little helpers!!  Sarah loved being right in the middle of all the fun!
Matt spent some time up in the attic removing the old furnace pipe and took care of a lot of the jobs that required a little more height.
Lennard came in and helped us move all the electrical outlets that needed moving and ended up helping with taking down some of the cupboards too.  Thanks Len!!  Mom worked so hard on both Friday afternoon and all day Saturday while she was not feeling well at all.  She ended up having a huge kidney stone that needed blasting out on Monday.  What a trooper my mom is!!

By the end of the day on Saturday we had all the walls put up where they needed to be and all the drywall done too.  The fridge will be centered along the new wall with a large pantry to the right of it, and cabinets above and to the left of it.  The new stub wall that we built will have a huge (like over 8 feet!!!) bank of cupboards attached to it.
The dishwasher will be moved over by the sink and we will have that area opened up to the dining room.  It is a little narrow to get through right now, but I am ok with that for now because I still have a working dishwasher!
Yup -- That's Sarah for you!

Monday night, Matt took down the remaining upper cabinets.  He really does love breaking things down and had a great time with the sledgehammer and crowbar!
It should only be a couple of weeks and the new cabinets will be installed.  Mom and Dad have all the cabinets stained, and are busy making the counter tops -- AFTER Mom has had a chance to rest and recuperate.  We will be busy taking out the rest of the back splash and the tiles from the floor.  There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are very excited at the progress that has happened so far.  Can't wait for the finished product!!
