It's got to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.....
We had a busy weekend at our house! My mom came in to help with some of the demolition and reconstruction of our kitchen. We made a lot of progress, but I don't think I really realized how big of a job this really is. Especially with little helpers!! Sarah loved being right in the middle of all the fun!
Matt spent some time up in the attic removing the old furnace pipe and took care of a lot of the jobs that required a little more height.
Lennard came in and helped us move all the electrical outlets that needed moving and ended up helping with taking down some of the cupboards too. Thanks Len!! Mom worked so hard on both Friday afternoon and all day Saturday while she was not feeling well at all. She ended up having a huge kidney stone that needed blasting out on Monday. What a trooper my mom is!!
By the end of the day on Saturday we had all the walls put up where they needed to be and all the drywall done too. The fridge will be centered along the new wall with a large pantry to the right of it, and cabinets above and to the left of it. The new stub wall that we built will have a huge (like over 8 feet!!!) bank of cupboards attached to it.
The dishwasher will be moved over by the sink and we will have that area opened up to the dining room. It is a little narrow to get through right now, but I am ok with that for now because I still have a working dishwasher!
Yup -- That's Sarah for you!
Monday night, Matt took down the remaining upper cabinets. He really does love breaking things down and had a great time with the sledgehammer and crowbar!
It should only be a couple of weeks and the new cabinets will be installed. Mom and Dad have all the cabinets stained, and are busy making the counter tops -- AFTER Mom has had a chance to rest and recuperate. We will be busy taking out the rest of the back splash and the tiles from the floor. There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are very excited at the progress that has happened so far. Can't wait for the finished product!! Wednesday, September 21, 2011
There's no turning back now....
Demolition has begun! The kids had a blast breaking down the wall and we will be taking out the old cabinets this weekend.
SUPER EXCITED!!!

Exciting Renovations!!
I am getting sooooo excited for my new kitchen. We are starting to demolish in a couple of weeks!! Mom and Dad have made all the cabinets already and they are busy getting all the finishing touches for them like the hardware, drawer glides, corner inserts, etc. The doors have been ordered along with the stain and they should be done next week hopefully. I have dreamed about a new kitchen for what seems like forever and I am having a hard time believing that it really is coming true! I know a few days in the dust and craziness of renovating will bring me to reality quite quickly, I'm sure!! I'll take it -- along with this beautiful kitchen!!!
The empty space on the left is for the stove, and the cabinet above the space will be above the built in microwave. The space on the right is for the dishwasher.

The large space in the middle is for the fridge and to the right of that is my PANTRY!!! Soooo soooo soooo exited for my pantry -- it will have 6 pullout drawers in there!!
This corner is going to be where we had a railing previously and will be a huge added bonus to all the counter space compared to what we had.
I am so grateful to have the parents that I do and that they are able to help me make my dreams come true!!

Gideon's 2nd Birthday
I can hardly believe that my baby is two years old! Gideon is such a fun-loving little boy and is such a joy to have in our family. He is absolutely loved by all his sisters and he adores his big brother. His Daddy is his hero and he has his Mommy wrapped around his little finger. We had a fun evening with Grandma and Grandpa Murray over for dinner. Gideon had a really great time eating his cake -- he has a MAJOR sweet tooth!! He is all boy through and through and really loved the cars, animals and balls he got for his birthday! Happy Birthday Gideon!!
First Day of School!
Another summer has come to an end and school is back in session. The kids were all actually pretty excited to go back to school. This is Brendan's first year of High School as they start that in grade 9 this year. Grace is in Grade 4, Anna is in Grade 2, and Rebecca is in Grade 1.
Sarah had to get in on the picture too. She is going to miss her sisters while they are in school!
