Sharing our Talents???

Our family got asked to sing in church today for the special musical number.  This is quite a common occurrence for us (fortunately/unfortunately), whether it's just the older girls, or all of us, and so I, of course, agreed.  We were asked to sing "Follow The Prophet", and I groaned under my breath a little bit.  Not only is it a super fun primary song to sing, but it also has 9 verses --- hurray!! (Insert sarcasm here....)  We decided to only do the first two verses, and the last two verses, and I should have know by the way our "rehearsal" went last week and this morning, that things would turn out really well.  I just kept thinking to myself that the worse the rehearsal is, the better the performance is.  Not quite so in this case.  First, Matt got called into work, so I was on my own with all the kids.  Then, the first speaker had quite a long talk (think 25-30min), and by the time it was our turn to perform, Sarah was long past being reverent and was saying she didn't want to sing at all.  When she told me she had to go to the bathroom, I didn't hesitate letting her go -- all on her own -- even though I knew there was only a couple of minutes to go.  Secretly I was hoping that she wouldn't make it back in time, and I wouldn't have to deal with her up on the stand when she really didn't want to be there anyway.  What I didn't know, was that Matt had taken a few minutes from his work to come and sing with us, then saw Sarah coming out of the chapel, and then proceeded to help her quickly go to the bathroom, and then have both of them join us for our musical number --- AFTER we had already started singing!  So, add Sarah up on the same small stool to stand on, throw in some pushing and shoving, mix in some grabbing the microphone for good measure, and then you have me having to pick up Gideon, and all of us forgetting most of the third verse, and we have a winner of a musical number!  Surprisingly enough -- we got a lot of compliments, and a few chuckles too.  A song and a show in the middle of sacrament meeting -- what more could you ask for??? ;)

It was honestly really cute and you handled it all really well! I would have been freaking out but you just kept singing and smiling!
